Letter from the Chief
I would like to welcome you to the website of the Madisonville Police Department. We are a municipal agency that serves a population of approximately 4,159 citizens within the city limits of Madisonville, Texas. The city is located along the corridor of Interstate 45 and is approximately one hundred miles north of Houston. Madisonville is in Madison County and is the largest city in the county and serves as the County Seat. Our work force consists of ten full-time, sworn officers, two reserve officers, and one civilian employee.
History of Madison County Domestic Violence Advocacy Program
In 1997 the Madison County Domestic Violence Task Force was formed under the direction of Twin City Missions, directly supervised through Phoebe’s Home, a women’s shelter in Bryan, Texas. A representative of Phoebe’s Home gathered with interested persons from our community and began to strive for this group’s goal of community awareness of domestic violence. The group consisted of law enforcement, probation and court representatives, as well as people from the medical profession.
